There is no specific formula defining outliers. However, they are still important to understand when performing a statistical analysis. Just one outlier can have a drastic effect on certain numbers calculated from the data set, such as the mean or standard deviation.

To find the outlier, look for the value that is either much larger or much smaller than all the other values. The value 762 is an outlier because it is much larger than all other values.
